Paragliding Pre-Flight Guidelines and Terms of Agreement
1. Pre-Booking Notes
- Health Condition: Please ensure you do not have heart disease, epilepsy, high blood pressure, or pregnancy, as these conditions are unsuitable for high-altitude activities.
- Age Limit: Recommended for ages 2–99, provided there are no major health issues.
- Weight Limit: Generally recommended within 20–90 kg. (If over 90 kg, please contact us in advance.)
- Hike to Takeoff Point: Before takeoff, a 5–10 minute walk from the train/cable car station to the launch site is required. Takeoff involves a short forward run.
2. Clothing & Equipment Recommendations
- Clothing: Sports shoes, long pants, windbreaker or warm/windproof jacket (mountain weather changes quickly).
- Avoid: Skirts, slippers, sandals, open hats.
- We Provide: Helmet (boots and jackets available on request).
- Luggage: Please travel light and avoid bringing bags larger than A4 size. If necessary, leave them at your hotel or temporarily in our office. (We are not responsible for safekeeping valuables such as phones or wallets—please carry them with you.)
3. Upon Arrival
- The pilot will conduct a final equipment check. Please strictly follow the pilot’s instructions.
- Do not attempt to remove equipment or take off/walk independently.
- Personal belongings must be stored in zipped pockets. Any items dropped during the flight are at the passenger’s own risk.
4. Pre-Takeoff Instructions
- Follow the pilot’s instructions and cooperate with the forward running motion (about 5–10 steps).
- Run forward—do not crouch, jump, or stop suddenly—this ensures smooth canopy inflation.
- Do not look back or stop abruptly, as this can interfere with takeoff.
5. During the Flight
- Relax and naturally sit back in the harness.
- You may speak normally, but raising selfie sticks or phones high into the air is prohibited.
- If you feel dizzy, nauseous, or nervous, inform the pilot immediately so the flight can be adjusted.
- Keep safety straps and harness buckles fastened at all times. Do not unbuckle them yourself.
6. Landing Preparation
- The pilot will announce in-flight: “Prepare to land.” At this point, lift both legs forward.
- Keep your legs raised as if sitting on a chair, making sure your feet do not touch the ground. Do not attempt to stand or slow the descent with your legs.
- Only stand once the pilot signals landing has been completed.
- Jumping from the paraglider or attempting to land with your feet before instructed is strictly prohibited and poses the greatest risk of injury.
7. Weather & Cancellation Policy
- If wind speeds are too strong or if it rains, the pilot has the right to cancel the flight for safety reasons. Refunds will be issued (transportation costs are non-refundable).
- Bookings canceled or rescheduled more than 24 hours before the scheduled flight are eligible for full refund (per regulations).
- Please ensure your phone or communication apps remain available. In case of weather-related rescheduling, we will contact you immediately.
8. Photography & Recording
- Pilots are equipped with GoPro cameras for full-flight recording. Passengers may purchase videos before or after the flight.
- Drones or other aerial equipment are strictly prohibited.
📌 Additional Reminders
- Please arrive at the designated meeting point 15–20 minutes before your scheduled time. (Confirm with your pilot.)
If you are late, your booking will be cancelled and no refund will be provided. - If you suffer from discomfort, fear of heights, or anxiety, please inform your pilot in advance.
- For special requests: Each pilot can only take one passenger. Two people can take off sequentially (side by side), but not three on one flight. If pilots are fully booked, one person may need to fly first, followed by the other.
- Children must be accompanied by a parent or provide a signed written consent form. (Additionally, someone must be present at the designated landing site to pick up the child.) Without guardian consent, FLYBYPARA and cooperating pilots reserve the right to refuse service.
📌 Terms & Liability Agreement
- This agreement becomes legally binding once a passenger makes a confirmed booking. Should any provisions of these Terms be partially or wholly invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions shall not be affected.
- Payment: The flight package must be paid in advance by cash, online, or by credit card.
- Weather-related cancellations: If flights cannot take place due to weather or other uncontrollable safety factors, credit card payments will be refunded (minus a 5% confirmation fee). Cash payments will be fully refunded.
- The tandem pilot is the final commander of the flight. Passengers agree to follow all instructions.
- Passengers confirm they have no physical or mental health conditions that may affect flight safety.
- Passengers understand and agree that paragliding and other outdoor activities involve inherent risks. FLYBYPARA’s cooperating pilots hold liability insurance with a maximum coverage of CHF 100,000. The pilot’s liability for passenger injury or property loss is limited to this amount.
- Minors or individuals lacking legal capacity must have written consent from a parent or legal guardian. If the guardian cannot be present on the day of the flight, written consent must be submitted to FLYBYPARA in advance.
- For passengers without personal accident insurance: Passengers confirm they have their own accident insurance covering paragliding activities. FLYBYPARA’s cooperating pilots do not provide personal accident insurance.
- For passengers with their own accident insurance: FLYBYPARA’s cooperating pilots have supplementary accident insurance valid within Switzerland, covering up to CHF 100,000 in medical expenses. This coverage only applies once the passenger’s personal insurance is exhausted, and within the scope and limits of the policy.
- Passengers from the United States or Canada expressly waive the right to pursue jurisdiction in the US or Canada for any disputes arising from paragliding flights and acknowledge that FLYBYPARA’s cooperating pilots are not subject to US or Canadian jurisdiction.
- All disputes arising from this passenger contract are subject exclusively to the jurisdiction of the ordinary courts at the location of the paragliding activity, and Swiss law shall exclusively apply.
