Matterhorn VIP: Paragliding in Front of the Matterhorn
Our best-selling flight takes you as close as paragliding allows to the most famous mountain in the Alps. On the Matterhorn VIP, you and your pilot soar in front of the Matterhorn for 25 minutes or more, with Zermatt, the glaciers and the surrounding 4,000-metre peaks spread out below you. No experience needed: just a few steps at take-off, and your certified pilot takes care of the rest.

Why the Matterhorn VIP is our best seller
Most paragliding flights in Zermatt show you the Matterhorn from a distance. The VIP flight is designed around it. We choose the take-off and the flight line of the day to use the best thermal conditions, so we can gain height and fly in front of the Matterhorn instead of simply gliding down to the valley.
That extra airtime makes the difference. With around 25 minutes in the air, there is time to take in the view, take photos and, if you feel like it, try a few gentle manoeuvres. If you prefer a calm, smooth flight, just tell your pilot: every flight is adapted to you.
What to expect on the day
- Meeting point. We meet at Bahnhofplatz 7, right next to Zermatt’s Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn station and one minute’s walk from the Gornergrat railway.
- Ride up to the take-off. Together with your pilot, you take the mountain railway or cable car to the take-off of the day.
- Briefing and take-off. Your pilot explains everything you need to know. Take-off is just a few running steps down the slope.
- The flight. About 25 minutes in front of the Matterhorn, with views over Zermatt, the glaciers and the surrounding peaks.
- Landing in Zermatt. A soft landing in Zermatt village. If you booked the photo and video package, your images go straight to your smartphone.
Matterhorn VIP or another flight?
If you want a shorter, more affordable flight, the Standard Fly offers around 20 minutes with Matterhorn views for CHF 240. For the highest take-off in Europe, from Matterhorn Glacier Paradise at 3,883 m, choose the Top Fly Glacier. And if you want to spend more time in the air, the Private Paragliding Day gives you up to three hours of total airtime over several flights.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need any experience to fly?
No. The Matterhorn VIP is a tandem flight: you fly attached to a certified pilot who controls the paraglider. You only need to run a few steps at take-off and landing.
How is the VIP flight different from the Standard Fly?
The VIP flight is longer (around 25 minutes instead of 20) and is planned to fly in front of the Matterhorn, using thermal conditions to gain height. The Standard Fly is a shorter classic flight with Matterhorn views.
Is there an age or weight limit?

What should I wear?
Sturdy shoes, long trousers and warm layers, as it can be cold at take-off altitude even in summer. Sunglasses are recommended. ⚠ CONFIRMAR: ¿dais guantes o ropa de vuelo en invierno?
What happens if the weather is bad?
Safety comes first. If we cancel your flight because of weather or safety conditions, you receive a full refund, minus a 5% confirmation fee. We will always try to offer you another time slot first.
Can I cancel my booking?
Yes. If you cancel at least 48 hours before your flight, you receive a refund minus the 5% confirmation fee. Cancellations within 24 hours of the flight are non-refundable. ⚠ CONFIRMAR: qué pasa entre 24 y 48 horas.
Can I get photos and videos of my flight?
Yes. Add the GoPro photo and video package (CHF 40) when you book, and your images will be transferred directly to your smartphone after landing.
